After research on Trip Advisor we contacted Swadeshi Journies for a bespoke tour around Northern India. This consisted of Shimla, Agra,Jaipur, Udaipur etc. They were incredibly helpful and accommodating to our needs and yet were considerably cheaper than anything in the UK. The communication between us and Swadeshi was great and very prompt. We dealt with Mahabir and Girish Singh who were both very professional and had great knowledge of India. They could both also speak and write very good English. The tour was great and tailored to us perfectly as we got to do the major tourist activities but could also ask to do some more adventurous things. All the hotels were good especially considering our budget. The tour guides provided at the major stops were also great and had very good knowledge and English. One of the best parts of our trip was our driver Kedar who was brilliant at keeping you feeling safe in the crazy Indian traffic. He is definitely worth requesting for. Unlike some of the big companies out there we thought that Swadeshi Journies brought an authenticity to our travels and we couldn’t have asked for anymore from a travel company. We will look to use them again when we travel to Southern India.

My wife and I went to India for 2 weeks on at trip arranged by Swadeshi Journeys. My wife will tell you I am a hard to please traveler and I can honestly say I found nothing to complain about on this trip. The experience was excellent. The hotels were high quality and much nicer than expected given our modest budget. Our driver was one of the best ones we have ever had on an international trip, both as a driver and as a knowledgeable guide. Swadeshi Journeys had also arranged local guides to meet us in each city. The destinations we went to throughout northern India were some of the most interesting and colorful sights in the world. People were very friendly—even to the point of welcoming us in their homes. I know it is hard to choose a travel agent from the many options available online, but my wife and I were perfectly satisfied with this agency. Our trip was mostly through Rajasthan, but Swadeshi Journeys also arranges tours throughout all of India and even Nepal—so we will definitely be using their services again!

I found out about Swadeshi Journeys through a forum post and so now it’s time for me to pay forward the great advice I got from others and confirm how absolutely fabulous the 16 day and night tour of Northern India (mostly Rajasthan) Swadeshi Journeys coordinated for us was. My husband and I are very particular about our desire to shape our own schedule and explore at our own pace. Swadeshi Journeys was incredibly responsive to my many questions both before and while in country. They tailored a trip that exactly met our interests and even made adjustments throughout our stay when we changed our itinerary mid-trip. They hotels they chose for us exceeded our expectations—I wrote in my travel journal that this was the most luxurious international adventure we have had thus far (we are on a budget!). I could truly relax and enjoy knowing every detail was taken care of. Mr. Singh and his son Girish are knowledgeable, local small business owners who I am proud to support and would (and have) recommended to all my family and friends. I have given them our permission to share our contact information if you want to call someone in the US to talk about details of our trip.

“Many thanks to Swadeshi Journeys- Mahabir Singh for helping to organize our vacation in India. They run a top quality travel agency in India which provided wonderful recommendations for travel and were responsive to any questions or concerns we had before and during our vacation. It was particularly nice and surprising to get a phone call 2 days into our trip to make sure that everything was satisfactory. We will recommend Swadeshi Journeys to our friends and will definitely be using Swadeshi Journeys for our next trip to India! I attached a few of our favorite pictures from the trip. Thank you again for all your hard work. We had a wonderful experience!

Good Morning, Hope you will be pleased to receive some pictures of the recent journey in India. You can use the pictures to make some book showing your proposals, if you want. Thanks again for the organization. Everything flowed well and no problems raised. I have sent the pictures to many people and told everybody my good opinion about Swadeshi. So, hope that you will be contacted by someone making my name and in this case I am sure that you will give them all the needed assistance. Please note that someone could be more exigent than me, for example requiring hotel 4 stars or more, or a car with air conditioned, but I am sure that you will be able to comply with all requests. Have a nice day

Undoubtedly, Traveling in India is a wonderful experience and even a dream of Everyone. Also, India is a verybeautiful and fascinating country. The land surface has high mountains, plateaus and plains. Some parts of our country are near the coast while others are far away from the sea. These features affect the climate of our country. Some places are very hot, while others remain dry for the greater part of the year. But despite a varied climate, the whole country experiences the same cycle of seasons-the summer season, the rainy season, and the winter season.
Summer months are hot in most parts of India. But the hill stations spread out in the country are the most favorite resort for many during this season.
The summer season starts in the month of April and continues till the end of June. During these months, the rays of the sun are nearly vertical. The days are long and nights are short. The heat is unbearable during the months of May and June.
In the Northern plains, very hot winds called loo blow and cause dust storms. The southern part, due to its nearness to the sea, is less hot. The cool winds coming from the sea keep the temperatures low. The desert in the north-western part of India is extremely hot. Dust storms occur almost every day in the desert areas. The mountains have a cool climate during this time of the year.
The Rainy Season
Monsoon : The western parts of India receive rainfall in June. Rest of India gets the rains later with the exception of south-eastern India, where it rains in mid October to December end.
During the month of June, the monsoon winds begin to blow landwards from the sea. These winds bring a large amount of moisture with them, which forms black clouds. These monsoon winds blow from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
The first showers of rain come to the Malabar Coast in the month of June. Slowly, these winds spread over the whole country. The western coast and the eastern and north-eastern regions receive heavy rainfall from these winds. Cherrapunji, in the Meghalaya, receives the maximum rainfall and is the rainiest spot in the world. Rajasthan and Gujarat receive very little rainfall.
Winter : Winter is the most pleasant of all the seasons. Days are bright & sunny and it is never very cold except in the northern plains. Here the temperature falls sharply and the northern hills experience snowfall.
By October, the rainy season comes to an end all over the country and the days become short and the night become long. The rays of the sun are not overhead. The air turns cooler in the plains marking the coming of the winter season.
The winter season lasts from November to February every year. In the Northern Plains, very cold wind blow making the winter months severe. Most of the hilly areas receive heavy snowfall. January is the coldest month in the Northern Plains. The winter season in Peninsular India is mild as a result of the influence of the surrounding water bodies. The coromandel Coast receives heavy rainfall during this season.
The desert is cool during the day but cold at night. The air starts warming up in the month of March, and the weather is neither cold nor hot. This time of early summer is also called the spring season. Every part of our country regularly experiences this cycle of seasons.
A torch, water bottle, good quality sunglasses, insect repellent, mosquito net and high factor sunscreen are all essential.
Comfortable shoes or trainers and sandals.
In general only lightweight clothing is needed during the day, but bring a warm sweater for early mornings and during winter evenings Nov/mid March (esp. Dec/Jan, when a windproof jacket, warm layers, gloves and hat are also recommended). Hotel heating arrangements are not on a par with UK standards and from December to February thermals are also recommended. Casual clothes are the most practical: tight fitting garments, brief shorts and skirts should be avoided, since they attract unwelcome attention. Waterproofs and or and umbrella may be useful for early season.
